How pool deck repair is done
The joint at the coping is the first thing inspected. Old hardened sealant is cut out, the joint is cleaned to both faces, a backer rod goes in and a flexible sealant fills it.
Hollow areas get identified by sounding the slab, and where the base has washed out the void is filled by injection rather than by patching the surface over it.
Cracks are classified the same way as anywhere else, static ones filled and moving ones converted to sealed joints, and any panel with a height difference is lifted rather than filled.
Spalled surface is cut back to sound concrete and patched, and where the patching would be visible across a large area a resurfacing or cool deck coating over the whole deck is the better answer.
